My activities today:

  1. Work 9-8
  2. Put away last night’s dishes
  3. Washed today’s dishes

Small win/Area improved: BEING PRESENT IN THE MOMENT

At work, like for most of us, there are so many things that needs to be done by the end of the day. It is not uncommon for me to be already thinking of the next task while still doing something else. And my mind gets overwhelmed by the amount of work waiting for me.

Reflecting on my day today, I am glad that throughout the day I was able to recognize my tendency to get overwhelmed and pulled myself to stay focused on the task at hand. It was many times today that I had to consciously do that. I had moments where out of habit I got sucked into my old way of doing things and my mind was running wild thinking of all the tasks that needed to be finished.

Today is a good day. I stayed present most of the day. It can be better. So next time, before I drive to work, I will take a few minutes to remind myself to stay in the present moment and to do I task at a time. I will remind myself to listen attentively to customers when they are talking to me and really pay attention to their concerns. At work, there’s usually very limited time to interact with customers but I will do my best to listen to their needs and be as helpful as I can.

Everyday is a chance for me to transition into the new person that I want to be, action-oriented yet calm and present.
