My activities today:
- Work 9am to 8pm
- Watched youtube after work
For the last 3 days, I’ve just given in to youtube. I felt like I needed a break. Since I came back from my trip to Italy, I have been working more hours. I usually work 35 hours a week but in the last 3 weeks, I have worked 59, 41 & 51 hours, respectively. So, I’ve just allowed myself to watch as many clips on youtube to satisfy my desire to relax.
Could I have done something else more productive? For sure. But, what can you do?.
Jim Rohn said, “Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day; while failure is simply a few errors in judgment, repeated every day. It is the accumulative weight of our disciplines and our judgments that leads us to either fortune or failure”. These last 3 nights will be under the “few errors in judgment” folder. I was good at work, for most of my shifts, I was able to stay present with each task and I have been very engaged with my conversations with our customers. Unfortunately, willpower and discipline didn’t come home with me. Lol.
I plan to take more weeks with extra shifts next year, so I may get exhausted again. I will try not to turn on youtube to soothe me. After a long shift, if I can wash and put away the dishes, I am already satisfied with myself. But on days where I can’t even do that, I should just go to bed early instead of medicating myself with youtube. I think that’s what I am going to do next time. I may not be able to do household chores but at least I am getting more sleep.
