THEORY:
“A lady’s hair is her crowning glory”.- Jeannette Walls
ACTION:
In my own observation, I have noticed that people who dress well, have some make up on and has nicely done hair appear to be very confident. Once in a while I think of maybe curling my hair with a curling iron to create beach waves but I never did coz I thought it must take a lot of time to do it. I have naturally wavy hair, in the past I have used many different hair products to encourage the waves in my hair. I only had a few days of good results, so I gave up.
I had my hair curled a few times before for a wedding or an event. I had seen my sister curl her hair and she really looked good. Because of the natural waves of my hair, I always use a flat iron to tame it. So most days, my hair look flat and dry. When it starts to get so flat from the oil build up, I just tie it into a ponytail.
Two days ago, when I was getting ready in the morning, out of nowhere, I thought of curling my hair. So I did. And oh my, I looked really good! LOL. Sorry to sound narcissistic here but I really did. I should have done this a long time ago. That day, I felt really confident while working knowing that I look good and appear professional in front of our costumers. When I see people who look put together, I feel like they are showing respect for their jobs because they took the time to look neat and presentable. I know that sometimes life can get very busy and there are many reasons why people may not have enough time to fix themselves in the morning like I have been for many years, but this simple step of curling my hair made a huge difference.
It’s crazy how this small change gave me so much confidence. I felt like for the outside observer, it shows that I take my job seriously because I took the time to look nice and decent. I have noticed that I had more confidence in the way I walked and talked. I was even more productive that day at work.
Now, I am curious to learn more ways to fix my hair and I believe it will also give me the same confidence.
RESULT:
Curling my hair is definitely a confidence booster for me!
